Expert Carpet, Upholstery, and Duct Cleaning - Serving Avon Lake, Ohio: In the mid 1980s Andy Ellis hired a company to clean the carpets in his family's North Ridgeville four bedroom, split level home. All of the carpeting in the entire house was cleaned in approximately forty minutes. During this time the company also nicked the baseboards and washed the mulch out of the flower garden. Three days later, the carpeting was still soaking wet and before long was beginning to mold. Andy replaced the carpeting and decided to use this experience to help save other Northeast Ohio residents from a similar fate. In 1986, Andy founded Ellis Family Carpet Cleaning & Duct Cleaning LLC, and in 2000 moved his growing company to Avon Lake, Ohio. He attended the Cuyahoga County Vocational School during his junior and senior years in high school where he quickly learned the ins and outs of appliance repair. In 1986 Tony founded Total Appliance Service in a small space behind his father's barber shop and his father was often the source of his earliest customers. His father would come back to where Tony had a little desk and one telephone, and say, "I have a customer that needs his washing machine fixed." Antique Radio Sales, Parts, and Service - While a high school student, Noel S. Ilg collaborated with one of his instructors in the design of a successful radio repair course. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy as a radio technician, and soon became one of the Navy's electronics instructors. Upon returning home, Noel opened his own business in September 1946 where he sold and repaired television sets, radios, stereos, and hi-fi's, and grew his company to employ a staff of twenty-three. By the mid-1970s the consumer electronics industry was becoming extremely competitive and Noel sold his shop in 1979 and turned his full-time attention to church music. Throughout the following years, although, he found he missed fixing old radios, so in 1992 Noel founded Ye Olde Radio Shoppe in Avon Lake, Ohio.
